Now I marked this hospital down because of their nurses. Nurses are exceptionally rude. Tbey spoke horribly to a woman in the ward next to mine because she could not speak English.. One nurse spoke to me so rudely I could not believe It....she was practically and to think all this happened at the ICU.....

Dr Priddy was my surgeon who did my procedure known as myomectomy. He is a great surgeon who kept me informed about my pre-op procedures. I knew exactly what medication and injections were administered and the reasons why. After the operation he made me feel comfortable. The surgery went very smooth with no complications. I was visited by Dr Priddy on daily basis. That re-assured me that I was in good hands. A special mention to Dr Priddy's secretary Sue who sorted out everything from appointments to dealing with my insurers. I stayed in Clementine Churchill hospital for 5 nights.Hospital room was clean and food was good. The nurses were really good. I only had problem on my second night of stay there. First night I was well looked after but on my second night I didn't sleep until 6 in the morning. I had severe pain in my lower abdomen and gases in my whole body. Like the night before no nurse was seen making regular rounds. I had to call them to find out if someone was on duty or not. I did bring it to the attention of the day nurse Moira and she assured me that she will speak to the night nurse. Other then that I had a comfortable stay in the hospital. My physiotherapist Helen was great. She visited me daily to see how I was doing. I recently went back to see her. She was very helpful and explained how to progress my exercises.

The first and most important observation I made was the extreme lack of hygiene and cleanliness in my room. Luckily I was not admitted for any invasive operations which could have resulted in deep wound infection due to the lack of a septic technique. On numerous other occasions I was attended by various other nursing staff who exhibited a distinct lack of knowledge of the proper application of a septic technique. I did not once see the nurses sanitize their hands in my room, and did not see them wipe the blood pressure cuff before or after they had done the observations. They had a very slap-dash approach with regards to their lack of hygiene and due care and attention where medication was spilled on the floor on a couple of occasions. I was astounded that when one of nurses when going off duty, she had her child in the hospital and was allowing her to rollerblade in the corridors! Not only is this very unprofessional of her to allow this to happen, but I am sure this must be against Health & Safety regulations. The hospital is not a children’s play area, especially when sick patients are trying to recuperate in peace and quiet. Another important issue I feel I should mention is that one evening I had to request the nurse to bring one of my prescribed medications which had been forgotten. If this were another patient who was not of sound mind or able to realise/communicate with the medical team, important drugs may be forgotten. This could obviously be extremely detrimental to the patient’s well-being.

Imaging manager didn't take my complaint seriously, I simply requested to get changed in the same room my X-ray would be taken. Was told no it's against health and safety and must sit in a waiting with no bra or knickers on
